If the carb clogged, I'd be suspicious of the fuel system. Pump a gallon out of the BOTTOM of the tank and see what it looks like. Check hoses and filters - both get old and require replacement. Be leery of any filters that a magnet will stick to! Finally, many of us have added a small pressure gauge at the carb inlet. Helps answer that 'Am I getting fuel' question.
