Wink Loose it.

If you are salt water cooled I'd loose the T-stat. I have NGK XR4 plugs and she runs "nice". By valve in the line just before the T-stat housing and open about 1/2 way.

I lay my hand on the block or the head and can hold it for a time....that means she's not too hot, that's my test and guages can be off too. The plugs keep combustion chamber clean; I am buring about a gallon an hour, so whatever difference there is on fuel economy it's not much.

-no head gasket problems
-lots of water flow (the ocean is the radiator)
-no problems with overheating due to T-stat malfunction...which happens.

Muriatic acid flush every 3 years.....Four years no issues....your call.
