Continuing the trouble shooting

No water exiting the weep hole on water pump. It doesn't make sense to me that the pump would be the source without seeing water leaking. I don't want to rebuild the water pump if I don't have to....

Boat launched, and still have milky oil issue after changing oil again. My understanding is I should next go with the water pump seals. BTW, thanks for the convert to studs idea. It was definitely...

I have been reading the various threads on this issue. I'm hoping that this was the result of an event, such as the water spray in the engine compartment or infiltration through the exhaust (no plate...

Milky Oil

I have been reading and troubleshooting. Here is what I have done so far:
1. Changed the oil 5x. It now looks clear.
2. Pressure tested the manifold. It passed.
3. Pressure tested the block. It...

cleaned tank in place

I cleaned my Monel tank in place 8 years ago. I pumped all the old gas out with a mechanical siphon pump through the fill tube, then filled with a gallon of acetone, sloshed it around by rocking the...

I was trying to blow air in the hose before the pump. I know the racor filter isn't plugged as it is brand new. Is there a check valve in the safety valve at the tank? Shouldn't I be able to blow air...

No fuel flow for spring start up

Tried to get the engine ready for launch today. Couldn't get fuel to flow. I disconnected hoses and checked that the fuel pump (manual) is working, and it is. I tried to blow air back through the...

water in gas

Water in gas sounds possible. Using a hand pump, pump out a little from the bottom of the tank into a glass and check for drops. Check the O ring on the fill cover. I would have saved myself a lot of...

Do I really need a temperature gauge?

At the beginning of the season, the temp reading was at the end of the scale. With the engine cool, it read 180. In order to narrow the diagnosis, I put a shut off cock between the water jacket T and...

I now understand. Received and installed gasket. Quite clear that size and material differs significantly from other gaskets. Had to tighten it down very hard, but now all is well.

Does that means the material for this gasket differs from others due to the heat factor? Is there any danger of running the engine for short periods with this leak?

reverse collar slippage

Recently I lost all reverse. I tightened the collar and gained reverse again, but then after a few weeks, no reverse. Is there a way to "hold" the collar after I tighten it? Why would it slip?

cleaner added to oil

I want to add a deposit cleaner to the oil. Do I have to reduce the quantity of oil first so that I don't have the pan too full? Do I have to change the oil after putting this cleaner in?
