I do not have much forward thrust in my A4 powered 1979 Catalina 30. I can putt around the Marina, but can't overcome any weather or current (Shoot! I barely overcome a tug of the dock line)....

How does the engine oil impact the performance of the forward gear? If the engine oil is dirty will this reduce the clutch effectiveness?
