I tried to get the shaft coupling apart, but couldn't get a pipe wrench to hold it. Every time I tried the wrench just swiveled and fell off.

I have pretty poor access and can't really get two...

Yes, planning on replacing the sleeve. The shaft coupling doesn't look like it's too badly rusted together.

I'm wondering about just putting the engine in gear to hold the coupling while loosening...

Rear oil seal replacement

Hi;

I'm getting quite a bit of oil being flung around the shaft coupling. Looks like the coupling/rear seal need replacement.

With that amount of rust in the cylinders it's going to be a major job to fix. Replacement engines can be found fairly cheaply, even if you have to put some parts on them, you'd be way ahead.

It's not leaking out the halves, gas is just flowing out the throat and anywhere it can get out. The needle valve is leaking.

I really thought the dirty fuel was going to solve the leak, but no go. Same symptoms, ran fine, but then gas leaked out the needle valve.

I ended up just ordering a new carb as I was out of time....

If the coil gets hot the engine will shut down. The standard install is with the coil hanging on a bolt on the block where it gets very hot.

I had problems where the engine would run about 10...

O'Reilly's did another search and came up with an 11 micron model - MGD 33095. It's a little physically smaller, but seemed to work ok.

Polishing Filter P/N?

Running out of time, need to try to find a 10 micron 5/16" hose barb metal polishing filter. Moyer has one that's 7-10 micron. Everything at local parts stores is 20 micron, ie WIX 33012.

Arrgh.

My carb seems to be leaking gas. After servicing it now 3 times and checking the float, replacing the needle valve and seat, it's still leaking.

Frustrating, as otherwise it runs...
