Exhaust hose bad or not?

The flexible exhaust hose from the waterlift muffler to the transom on my Pearson 35 (18' long!) shows small cracks all over, and has been pretty much like that since we've owned the boat (12 years)....

Thanks all

Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions. Good to know the valve assignments, I found them nearly impossible to deduce from what manuals I have. Great idea to mark the accessory drive! Now I'm...

Unhappy Finding TDC from valve close in #1?

Last week I removed the distributor from an engine that's been running relatively well all season to do a little maintenance (and check the advance mechanism -- top end seemed a little low) but...

Abrupt hard failures in electronic ignitions?

I have been wary of putting an electronic ignition into my A4 because I had an electronic ignition module fail hard, abruptly, at 50 mph on the highway some years ago, without warning. I like that...

Random RPM dip

My A4 was running fine, then began showing brief dips (a fews seconds) in rpm almost to stalling, but never did really stall, at random intervals around 10-30 secs. Knew we had a slight leak from...

Fuel starvation?

Your symptom sure sounds to me as though your engine is being starved for fuel. There's enough trickling through in idle, but not nearly enough when under load. In gear it takes a little while to...

Thanks, Don.

I'm guessing that there was enough friction in the long heavy-duty cable and mechanism to hold the pressure plate in when we had no forward detent.

Yes, barnacles on...

Question Adjusting forward detent halves boat speed?

I haven't seen this problem mentioned here or in Don's manual, which I've read and re-read, so thought I'd ask.

Pearson 30 w/ a late model Atomic 4 w/ the heavy duty Edson pedestal shifter...
