I've got to be missing something at the float...

I've got to be missing something at the float switch. It doesn't come in contact with anything when it comes up. Could I have blasted something out with the carb cleaner and not noticed it?

OK, a little digging has me thinking I misplaced a part. Is there some sort of seat at the plate near the hinge pin of the float switch? It looks to me that the float switch should seat to the port...
