Hello all, I was reminded by Tim Smith over on the Pearson forum that some of you may enjoy pics of the A4 I cleaned up in my Pearson 30 "Isotope" in 2019.

I would say she's run about 300 hours since then. On a few occasions for close to 24 hours straight. No issues except a cheapo electric fuel pump failure (my fault). What an awesome, simple, and reliable little motor. Cheers to Moyer Marine and everyone here for helping to keep it alive!

A few pics toward the end of this page when I got the side plate off for the first time:

The boat looks great. Some impressive refit work on the A4 and the boat itself.

You stopped at some great anchorages. Mattituck being my favorite. Its a nice 40 mile hop from me on the way out of the sound.

Thanks. Mattituck is definitely nice to have, not much else for a ways on the New York side... cute town with a decent hardware store too.

Nice Job.

You did a good job on the boat. Really impressed that you took the hull down and faired etc and then put inter-protect on it prior to painting. I did a similar refit on a C&C 30 in 2007 and rarely have had to touch it since. I also removed all deck fittings, cleats, winches, stanchions etc and sealed them all with 3m 4200. We are into 2021 and I haven't had a deck leak. Also did my bottom with 2 coats of epoxy paint, not inter protect, but 2 part epoxy paint. Mine bottom was no where as bad as yours. That was a heck of a job you had ahead of you there.

She looks great. I've thought of getting a bigger boat numerous times but my thing is I know what it takes to bring them up to my standards and don't want to do it again. Enjoy the boat, she will serve you well for years. When you see the "prettier boats" go by you know you are on something.

Great to see the Isotope Atomic 4 story here...

Thank you for sharing the photos/story here....what a project removing/replacing the head...Stay well.

Thanks. Yeah I really had no idea what I was in for when I bought the boat, and the bottom job got a little out of control. I will say that I am glad I decided to do the barrier coat - it was an epoxy primer as you describe, and when the growth got ahead of me down in Florida, I was able to aggressively scrape it underwater without doing too much damage.
