Can’t be a coincidence can it

I rebuilt my starter and put it on today. I also replaced the impeller in my RWC pump. ( I have FWC). So before I put the pump back on I started the engine just to be sure all the wires were put back correctly. Started right up. Turned it off and put the raw water pump on. Now it would not start.
Checked the coil for spark. Heard the fuel pump clicking but I never hear it. So I pulled the fuel line off and to check for fuel. Finally got fuel and of course no clicking.
Put the fuel line back on and the motor would start but not run.
Now there are two things I am thinking. There is no connection on the alternator, starter or solenoid that would prevent starting. Is there? The other is by an unbelievable coincidence I have a main jet clog in my carburetor. The motor has run great all summer. Could this be an absolute coincidence or is there a terminal that I screwed up.
By the way I have normal fuel pressure. The only time I hear the fuel pump click is when there is no gas going through. I assume that is normal

Don't know for sure what you mean by "it would start but not run"? If you mean it would run for a moment and stall, make sure you did not knock a wire off of the oil pressure safety switch, which would allow it to start but then cut off the fuel pump after a wee bit.

Great thread on ignition circuit to test and rule out discontinuities.

Thanks

Today I removed the alternator and checked all the solenoid wires. To morrow I try again

Yes it can

After deciding it was a fuel problem, I dropped the carb cleaned it with cleaner, cleaned the jets, even bought a 3/16 wooden dowell to seat the float valve. Changed the polishing filter and the hoses coming out of the water separator to the carb. Moment of truth. I cranked and cranked and it would not fire. Started to leave the boat when I realized I turned the fuel off at the tank the night before. Tried again. Fired up and ran smoothly.
It is still hard to believe that my carb went out at the same time my rwc impeller did.
