Shifting Adjustment Procedure

1 Attachment(s)
I have replaced my shifting cable with a Teleflex and now it moves like butter. HOWEVER, I seem to have lost 75% of my power in both forward and reverse. Here is the weird part, I feel the full detente going into forward and I am hearing the whine in reverse. I took it out for a test and had to sail it back to the dock.

I have bought the Moyer video on gear adjustments and something isnt clear to me. It is explained that adjust the notch collar will stiffen up shifting, but does it do anything in terms of slippage of the plates and cause them to fully engage? It's really weird that power is lost in both fwd and rev. Here are a couple of pics of the guts in Fwd, neut and rev. Thank you!

Lots of folk's a lot smarter then me will chip in here but I will start.A few questions first which others will want to know.

How did every thing work and feel before you changed the cable ??
Did you do any other work during the time you were changing the cable, like say maybe an oil change ??
How long has the boat been sitting while doing this cable change ??

Again some smarter fellas will be along to assist.

hanng tight, Chapster5

I would observe that your symptoms are consistent with an embarnacled prop. This happens to us in the Northeast starting in early September, if the prop hasn't been cleaned since a May launch. It feels like the engine...but it isn't the engine.
