I completely agree with Mark including a detector is a good redundancy. Mine is a now-discontinued Xintex unit that interfaces with the bilge blower, some of their current models do also.

No experience with gasoline vapor detectors, but in my experience, my nose is more sensitive than the electronic detectors I've seen. I can smell natural gas long before detectors in my home start...

(I put mine in a side coaming where an old depth gauge used to be)
You really just need to see it once in a while to set engine...

There are 1001 tachs of various sizes and quality to be found. The Isspro gear Moyer sells is quite good.
I have a FleaBay special myself, it happened to fit the hole an old instrument left.

I've always used a Group 24 flooded battery and have had good luck. Rated CCA on this size varies depending on manufacturer, but should be about 700.
What have you been using, a motorcycle battery?
