I just replaced my old Oberdorfer water pump with a new MM pump and it seems to be working perfectly. Thank you MM!
My question is... When I scavenged the "L fittings" that attach to the water hoses from the old pump and screwed them into the new pump and screwed them in, they didn't end up in the same placement as the old ones and in the direction of the hoses. For instance, when tightened, the intake hose might be 180 degrees from where the fitting is pointed.
So I loosened the fitting a little so that it would point in the direction of the hose. I ran the engine for about ten minutes and there was no leaking.
I'm wondering though, is that the proper procedure? And if not, how do I get those fittings tightened and pointing in the right direction, or is there something I can put on the threads to keep them from leaking?
Thanks in advance,
Michael
