Sounds like you have major electrical issues. I suggest you take some pictures of your engine, batteries and charger - start a thread on the forum so the entire brain trust can be brought to bear on the problems.

Just bought Catalina 27 1976 Atomic 4 in immaculate condition. We took out on first real outing and motored over across the lake to fill up with fuel. Motor died just before marina and would not restart so towed in to fuel pumps. We filled up holding 6 gallons. We had a lot of fumes after filling up but after 10 minutes of running blower got green light to start. We restarted motored out almost to sailing point but engine died again and would not restart. Had to get towed back to sail club where boat is still in same condition after several attempts calling all repair businesses nobody wants to come work on it as it still has some fumes but can't find leak if there is one. I guess I'm going to have to try and fix it myself if possible and need all the help I can get. It won't start, has a smell of gas, get a green light on monitor as if ok to start, still no start. Help!

We recently purchased a 1976 Catalina 27 which was in immaculate condition and we took out for first outing for abou 15 minutes it ran great. Next time we motored over to marina for gas and it died just before marina a 30 minute trip got towed to fuel. When we filled up 6 gallons the fumes were strong and warning light came on in 10 minutes running blower cleared up and got engine started ran out to sailing area but engine died again before getting all way out. We pulled up sails and sailed a little but was relying to restart engine to no avail and had to be towed in. We still have some fumes but pretty much clear up after running blower but engine won't start. Tried to get mechanic to come and help to no avail so I'm going to have to try and fix myself I guess. Please help.
