    Tune Up???

After a tune up on my Atomic 4 I started it a week later and it ran for about 5 minutes and would not start again. After going through several checks I deceided to pull the distributor cap and found that all the parts (condenser, points, rotor and cap) had corroded. Courious if anyone has had the same problem. I have replaced all the parts and re-tuned and it seems to be O.K.

    Distrubuter issue

    tkandziora,

Sounds odd, maybe cheap brand of tune up parts supsectable to rust in the marine environment. I did not have your EXACT problem, but had rust and crud in the timing advance mechanism under the points and condensor plate. They was most likely not ay (or very little) advancing due to the rusty springs and lack of lubrication in the mechanism. Be sure to remove the plate now and then during a tune up and check the timing advance mechanism and give it a good lube. It should operate very smoothly and spring back easily.
