Clogged Water Intake; future reference

Out this weekend and had some wide tide swings leaving lots of debri in the water and my intake sucking it all up! Had to clean the sea strainer three times but the intake was still blocked. I pulled the intake hose off the sea strainer and plugged my dingy pump to it and pumped a few times. Worked great. The thought of jumping in the 45 degree water was not feeling good.

Just thought I would share my idea!

Wish I had thought of that. Miles from any land in the middle of Florida Bay and single-handed I had to go over and clean the intake, lots of sea grass. I did tie in to the boat and it was warm but still got my attention. Thanks for the idea! Dan S/V Marian Claire
