water in carb?

Hi,
New to A4s
It seems I may have some water in the carb. What is the best way to clean it out? Is there a drain plug on the carb?

Also, any recommendations on oil extractors?
Best to go with hand pump or 12v?

I can't speak for all of them, but mine has a drain plug on the bottom, right in the front.

I have tried multiple oil extractors over the years - most work well except I never had much luck with the pumps attached to a hand power drill. I have changed oil a couple times a season for decades and like the simplicity of the hand pumps that create a vacuum in a canister and draw the warm oil out of the dipstick opening.- takes about 15 -20 min for my 4 qts. There are multiple brands out there. The small 12 volt pumps work well as long as they are primed.

Welcome to the forum.
How did the water get into the carb? If you clean the carb but don't know how the water got to the carb what will keep it from happening again?
Water in the fuel tank is the usually #1 cause.

My guess is that you have water in your tank, and your water separator filter, if you have one, got so full of water that it just sent it downstream. That is why those filters have drains in the bottom of them, so you can see if water is coming from your tank, before it gets to be so much that it ends up in your carb and stops the engine. I installed a valve in the bottom of my filter bowl for that purpose. Just removing the water in the carb will not solve the problem.
I just use a small hand pump to change oil. It still leaves a half quart or so, but I change oil every 50 hours.

Water in the fuel is one thing, but if there is visible water in the carb throat that isn't where it came from.
Possible causes inlcude the exhaust flooding back through the engine and a hole in exhaust manifold cooling jacket.
