Compare Ford Tractor Engine to A4!!
Thought you might be interested in this rebuild of a 1941 Ford 9N flat head tractor engine. Looks very much like an A4.
http://www.ytmag.com/articles/restor...n/rebuild1.htm "Yesterday's Tractors Co." site and forum look very familiar. Big Eye |

I have a 1941 Ford 9n tractor in good condition besides my A4 marine engine.. I can tell you that there really is a big difference in things... but, simplicity is the thing they share in common..
The Ford is 24 hp and the A4 hmmm 30 hp.. the Ford has a very antiquated distributor, the A4 a nice Delco based unit... the valves in the A4 adjust easily, the Ford, you need special tools... the list goes on. The one thing that I have been curious about is using the Ford N series carburator on the A4... it is slightly larger and while both are updraft engines, the Ford starts faster when cold or had been sitting for a while.. They are both fun engines to own and use.. David |
