Wink Forward and reverse

Forward and reverse
I’m not sure what is normal on the atomic 4 for forward and reverse
A quick update the cable system and steering has been overhauled and fully serviced. Also I have a new stabilizing bracket on the shift cable.
Now with the engine running I slowly engage the prop, there seems to be some slippage as the transmission slowly engages. Once engaged she is solid and has good power. There is a bit of force required but not enough that I rip the pedestal off of its mounting bolts.
In reverse after passing thou neutral there is a bit of a squealing sound and slippage before it engages but once all in it is fine. Based on the clutch design of this transmission is this normal or should it be a full free throw without any resistance. It does not feel like its jamming or hanging up at any point
I am running a 6-12 3 bladed prop this thing is great for baking up and forward but it does keep the engine rpm way down. Is this all normal for this transmission?

When going into forwards there should be a noticeable point where
a click is felt; the clutch (there are 3 clutch plates) is now locked
into place. Due to friction in long cable runs you may not notice
this, but if you disconnect your shift cable from the engine and
operate the lever on the engine by hand you'll feel it.

Reverse is another story -- pulling the other way on your shift control
slowly tightens a large band which eventually presses around a
rotating cylinder. Once this cylinder is stopped by friction secondary planetary
gears are activated which cause your propeller shaft to turn the
other way.

Uwe,

You should be able to get about 2000-2200 rpms in forward if you are propped correctly. There is a detent you can feel when fully engaged in forward. There is no detent in reverse.

I assume you have a direct drive A4 and not one with the reduction gearing?
