overheating

I just bought a 1969 Cal 30 with an atomic 4. It's overheating within 5 minutes of firing her up. I installed a new water intake filter after finding kelp in the intake line and while the amount of water passing through the engine has increased, the problem remains. Any suggestions? I'm in Vancouver, BC - does anyone know a good atomic 4 mechanic?
