    Choke Cable Bracket Mod

    Don,

Here's another request for the guys in your shop when they've finished the thumbscrew idle adjustment valve. How about redesigning the late model choke cable bracket so that the square nut cannot turn while tightening the machine screw? With 1" to 2" between the carb and the engine compartment wall in my Ericson 29, getting to and holding the nut while getting to and tightening the screw is a royal pain, literally. There may be better ways but one would be to wrap the bracket around the nut, like a U. I think I've seen similar brackets on a lawnmower engine. Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us. Keep up the good work.

Interesting. I have a new Zenith on my desk, so I know exactly what you're talking about. We should be able to incorporate this suggestion on all our rebuilt carburetors which we are just getting ready to introduce to our online catalog. I'll suggest that going to the next size machine screw may enable the shop folks to simply re-thread the hole in the existing bracket as the easiest way to get rid of the nut.
