Slipping while in gear
Had something happen today that is new to me. I was motoring out of the marina and got out into the channel and started to throttle up. about 1500 rpm it just seemed like it went out of gear. rpm went all the way full and no power to the prop. I backed off it and pulled it out of the dent and put it back into the dent and throttled up, seemed to operate normally. after a shake down sail, it did it again on the return trip. the motor usually just bogs down, but this time it just free revs when i put the power to it on the agressive side. never had this, seems like i need to adjust something but what?

Regardless of how the "foreword clutch" adjustment goes have a look see at the linkage. From what you described the outer cover may be loose and the engine is not going fully in forward gear sometimes. You can confirm that the problem is linkage related or not by disconnecting the linkage and shifting by hand with the lever on the trany.
