Exclamation T30 Makeover site expired

Is anyone familiar with t30makeover.com? Not sure why the site is down but if anyone knows Mr. Stoehr or sees Ayacucho around Newburyport, MA please make a point to ask. I was recently looking through the site for ideas & inspiration and this week it is not there. Could just be a glitch or lapse in service but there's already one of those generic pages in its place.

Any updates appreciated

Thanks much!

Yes, I've spent a bit of time perusing that site. And yes, it seems to be down - looks like the message you get if the domain name isn't renewed on time.

I did find an email address on the Tartan owners site. I'll give that a shot.

Trés 30,

I have emailed the owner a half-dozen times since acquiring my T30, mostly to thank him for such an amazing treasure trove of T30 information, but have never received any reply. It's a real shame if that site is down. He inspired me to restore my own T30. Although nowhere near his level of expertise and attention to detail, I've been very pleased with the way Patina has come back to life.

Thumbs up

Tom,

Patina looks great! Here's to inspiration!

I hope to get mine to that level eventually. So far I've put on some new running rigging and re-covered the cabin cushions. Oh, and a little (just a little) work on the engine.

I'll email Mr. Stoehr at any rate. Maybe if there's enough reaction he'll put it back up. The site certainly was extensive and inspirational.

Thanks again

I too found much inspiration from the t30makeover site as I slowly upgrade my own T30.

Tom, Patina is gorgeous! I don't suppose you kept a blog or some such thing detailing what you've done to her? I'd love to see more.

Thanks for the many kind words about Patina. I am very partial to the classic lines of this design and feel lucky to have such a pretty sailboat. One of the main reasons I got her was she had just gotten a new MMI rebuilt A-4 installed with maybe 10 hours on the engine. The PO had some trouble with the engine (turned out to be a collapsed exhaust hose creating a blockage) and hadn't used the boat in over a year. The boat needed some serious cosmetic work and system updates (fuel, electric, lighting, plumbing, etc.) but had great bones, new UK Halsey Tape-Drive sails and brand new Lewmar 40 ST'ers. I bought the boat before I found the T30Makeover site, but once I saw what was possible, I committed to do the best refit my skills and wallet would allow.

I documented most of the process with the idea of simply keeping track of the pieces, but I haven't done a website or a blog like I did with my Catalina. I'll do a photobucket or something and upload some the more interesting and rewarding projects. New ports and deadlights are at the top of the list as is new headliners and LED lights. I love the proper seacocks and delight every time I open or close one. New Electrical is nice as is all new teak (except the toe rail - I wouldn't wish replacing that on anyone!) I painted the hull above the waterline with Interlux Perfection - a two-part LPU. I'll never do that again. I did the boot stripe with a contraption I made to keep the stripe the same "eye distance" as the hull curved. Deck was painted with a flattened Interlux Brightside and the non-skid is KiwiGrip.

Thanks again for the kind words. I'll get something together in the next few days to share.

T30 Makeover

Just got an email from Jeff. The T30makeover site should be back up and running. He got an incredible response from everyone who has admired his work and used it as inspiration for the rest of us. He tried to log in here to post and let everyone know but hadn't been on in quite a while and couldn't get the username/password correct.

Tom, I agree, you should post similar pictures of Patina! We love to see what is possible!

Cheers,
John
