    Distributor Tune Up Kits

Just convert to electronic ignition. Converted mine last year. Call Moyer Marine and talk to Ken. He will hook you up with what you need. Very easy.

OK, I'm gonna stick my neck out here and pontificate on what I believe to be true but have not confirmed.

Tres30, I looked at your links and want to offer this caution in support of buying from Moyer Marine. What caught my attention was the distributor cap. A true marine SAE J1171 ignition proof dist cap should be sealed (I'm pretty sure but not certain) with a gasket around the mating surface with the dist. Buying from other sources online or at the corner auto parts boutique may not guaranty you're getting a true SAE J1171 compliant part. This is a matter of USCG compliance and safety with gasoline inboard installations.

This is what I'm talking about.

        I second Neil's input.

Best to stick with know reliability marine parts thoroughly tested and
supported by this forum and Don Moyer personally.

I agree completely, purchase from MMI and know what you get. Had a tune up kit delivered to the boat today. It was a gratitude gesture for getting an engine running for a guy last week...what you see is what he brought. I figure he thought allot of that engine!!

Checked a Minney's over the weekend at their swap meet for your "steering ring" and no joy.

Parts are parts and marine parts are marine parts! You get the reliability you pay for.

Continental Marine in Quincy mass. cuts up and resells parts from salvaged
Sailboats. You might try calling them.
              Also, Marine Exchange, formerly
in Peabody mass has reopened in the Marblehead area I believe.

It makes me crazy when guys try to save a couple of bucks by trying to find parts cheaper then MMI.

Thing is that in the end, MMI is the best and has the best prices.

                  Mo,

Pusser's has been my "usual" for a whole, but recently, Sailor Jerry's has taken over. Enjoy.

That must have been one sweet engine!

On the A4 front, like everyone else, support MMI. There are few companies that are as focused on providing the correct parts and service, even when that means turning down a sale! On more than one occasion, Ken has refused to sell me a part until I tried something he or Don recommended. And they haven't been wrong yet.

I like the Goslings myself...there's a couple there I've never tasted.

                      Talk about sparking a discussion!

I thought my little question was hiding out over hear in the aftermarket forum!

J1171 compliance is YTBD on that. I figured since it was a marine supply store maybe it was comparable to the MMI offering which doesn't include a gasket or SAE notation that I see. http://www.moyermarine.com/cgi-bin/s...key=IGLM_10_35

Would love to go with the electronic ignition, but it's not in the budget this year. The standpipe exhaust was the main upgrade. Next will be FWC.

(My vote is on the Kraken. There's a tasty recipe for Kraken Cream Soda which goes something like, 1oz, or so, Kraken + equal parts coke/sprite. I learned it once but forgot it almost instantly)

I am currently partial to Sailor Jerry myself. It is a step up from Captain Morgan...the Kracken ain't too bad either.
