Reverse Gear and Smoke

Hi everyone,

First let me say thanks to Don Moyer and Team for all the help and parts they have provided over the last two years. I really appreciate and for the most part I have a fantastic running Atomic 4.

Here's my current issue. My atomic four runs great in forward, no smoke, idle's easy, can even move the boat easily in idle while approaching dick. The A4 has a V drive, so it's reduced. In reverse however, when I start to rev up it smokes? Only reverse and out the exhaust white smoke?

Any ideas why that might be. As an added note, I need to tighten the reversing gear, so if anyone thinks that might be the cause let me know, I'm just working on the cable to get the right feel in forward and reverse. But could the smoke be caused by the gear slipping and would that smoke come out the exhaust?
