Why is my fresh water pump squealing?
My engine is FWC, with the second pump run off the shaft on the front of the engine. I changed the impeller, which I do regularly, and put on a new belt, which I tightened carefully. Now I get this squealing noise anywhere above an idle. See the video.
Thoughts? https://photos.app.goo.gl/fF5yPRENwJsrCfxf8 Only time this happened before was when the belt was worn and loose. |

Belt...or bearing? Can you put the old belt back on to see if the problem goes away?
Is it possible the new belt is half an inch too long? |

Did that. No change. Talk to me more about what the bearing might sound like.

Sounds like a bearing noise to me, the result of years of side loading and possible (I can't know for certain) over tightening.
