What comes up for me often when redoing gaskets is when to use them dry and when to use them with a sealant. And is Permatex Aviation the right sealant for all applications. I'd be more comfortable if I had a list assuming not all gaskets benefit from sealant on one or aboth sides.

I'm attaching the instructions that we included with our gasket kits back when we were packing our own kits which may help you. We recommended Permatex Aviation Brand sealer because (while it may be a bit tenacious for some locations) it is the one sealer which seems to work in all situations.

Permatex Aviation is excellent, just messy. We use a lot of Hylomar in auto racing on all sorts of parts.
