Emergency Bilge Pump (T in water intake)
Speaking with my powerboater friend, Rusty, he told me of an arrangement he uses as an emergency bilge pump that I thought was a great idea and is related to the thread, T-valve in water intake.
By putting that same hose that is used to winterize your engine down in the bilge when not in use, you now have an emergency bilge pump! Really a simple but elegant use of the plumbing for two purposes. Just turn that valve on if you are taking in more water than your bilge pump can handle in a dire emergency. Of course, you may need to cut the inlet through the hull as well. Just goes to show that powerboaters can get along with sailors! Last edited by sailorken; 11-05-2005 at 08:43 AM. |
