Raw water flow sensor came to mind

While researching the ABYC Exhaust Standards for a response to another thread I stumbled across an exhaust system requirement I never knew existed:
Quote:
An indicator shall be provided that is effective at all helm positions to indicate loss of exhaust system cooling water supply. This indicator shall be independent of the engine block temperature indicator(s).
ABYC Standard P-1, Section 1.7.2

Do or did boats have such sensors? When was that policy instituted?

None of the boats from any of the manufacturers I worked for offered such a sensor, not even as an option. However, my employ predates my souce material by 20 years. The date of the ABYC Standard I quoted was 1993.

Similarly but not exhaust related, how many have a neutral safety switch? It's a requirement too.
