exhaust water fountain
I am new to the inboard engine stuff. I have the late model A-4. Has run great for one season. Oil P 35 / temp controled via valve at 170 - 190. I have had some steam and have been investigating NOW I have water running out of my exhaust gasket! Isn't the exhaust water cooled but not water contained, they only combine in the end past the flange in the muffler part? Does this mean block / head gasket or just a passsage of the maniforld? Thanks NelMurr

NelMurr,
I'm hoping that you mean water is seen dripping from your exhaust flange gasket (at the aft end of the manifold). If this is the case, you probably have nothing more serious going on than a leaky upper manifold flange bolt. On many later manifolds, these bolts enter the water jacket of the manifold and over time can develop leaks. If you can get the bolt out, you could try to seal it with JB Weld. The manifold itself may also have a leak. You can check this possibility by removing the hoses at both ends of the manifold and blowing in one end while holding a finger or thumb over the other end. If you can blow through the water jacket of the manifold, it will need to be replaced. Don |
