Basic Question: Stud installation
This is pretty basic question, I guess, but how do you go about installing a stud? Double up nuts on one end or is there a special tool (stud socket?).
I have to install the two exhaust manifold studs... Thanks, |

You got it. Double nut and screw em in. You might want to put some sealant on the front stud, it goes into a water jacket. I think Don recommends a light coat of JB Weld on the threads that are getting screwed into the block This will seal them if they penetrate a water jacket and keep the snug if you have to remove the nuts. Good Luck

Tim,
You can double-nut the studs to install them but please do not overtighten them. Most engine shops recommend only a half turn past fully seated. Don |
