No water coming out of exaust
We got this Cal 29 donated to our charity. We Have cleaned the intake, replaced the impeller and get water to the raw water pump, but with the engine running, we are getting NO water out the exhaust. We have thought about removing the thermostat and flushing the system with vinegar.... Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have to move this boat in the next 2 days.

Remove the outlet hose from the pump and start briefly. Let's see if the pump is pumping.

impeller
no it was in good shape. the engine seems to have been fairly well maintained but sat for about 1-2 years in the water.

Given what you report, I would disconnect the hose from the exhaust mixer down stream of the engine and see if you have water there when running and if not, work your way back to the manifold and finally the block. The elbow at the aft end of the manifold is notorious for snagging debris creating a blockage.
Without flow an acid soak is off the table. No flow = no acid getting into where it needs to be.

Are you fresh or raw water cooled? I had the exact same issue about a month ago on my fresh water cooled A4. Turned out my heat exchanger was clogged on the raw water outlet side as a result of what looked like an anode breaking down. Flushed out the heat exchanger and water flow returned to normal.

I'll second this advice.
If water is flowing out the back end of the manifol then check the entire lift muffler Quote:
