Lower water pump extendo bolt alternative?

Will this work? Or why won't this work as a long bolt for the lower hole of the water pump?

This is a 4 1/2" grade 5, 3/8-16 bolt with a nut tightened/bottomed on the threads.



This is cheap at less than $2.00. Which is good since I can keep a couple on the boat so when I drop it into the bilge, I can simply put in a second $2.00 replacement.

Getting to that lower bolt with the original short bolt is torture in a Pearson 10M. Especially when the engine is hot and the cabin temp is 90+ degrees.
