Scott at Apples Machine Shop has rebuilt over 40 A4's. I brought him my block, head, manifold, crank and cam, new valves.
- magnafluxed the block, head and manifold
- measured all parts for clearances and cleaned all bearing surfaces - no turning was required
- bored all cylinders
- verified flatness of the head and cleaned block to head surfaces
- removed several broken bolts from water jacket side plate
- cleaned up the valve seats and seated the new valves
- hot tanked the block, manifold and head
- provided tips/advice for re assembly and gave me a bottle of assembly lube.
Total cost at the machine shop: $575
