Starting Engine and Temp, Oil Pressure Safety Switch
I am having some starting issues and working through the checklist but i do not know the correct procedure to temporarily by-pass the temp, oil pressure safety switch i purchased from Moyers. What steps can i use to eliminate that from being the problem for the engine not starting. I do not know if i simply disconnect the wires or if i have to use a jump wire.
thank-you for any direction you can provide. Phil |

The switch
Phil, the switch opens when the oil preassure is to low and is closed when it reads enough preassure, so all you need to do is use a jumper between the posts. Also if that does not work check for voltage at the coil positive terminal to be sure that the ignition switch/key is not malfunctioning. You can also try to hot wire by supplying voltage via a jumper-wire to the positive side of the coil. If you still have no spark check the points, sometimes it is as simple as a bit of KRUD forming and causing poor contact. A bit of emery paper and a blast of air can usually fix that.
