I replaced mine in...umm...I guess it was all the way back in 1993, how about that...via the West Marine in Long Beach, CA. It was a pretty expensive special order item at the time, too, but I was glad to have been able to find it. This was pre-internet, of course.

When it finally arrived there was a tag on it with a sentence that somebody along the way had lined out with a Sharpie. Curious, I removed the Sharpie with some acetone.

It said: "NOT FOR MARINE USE."

    Oh.

It works just fine and I still think of it as the "new" cable.

Dwight, Both Neil and I have C-30s that originally started out as tiller versions that we converted to wheel steering. The cable for the tiller type has a relatively straight run from the shift handle to the trans and, as I recall, was much easier to shift before my conversion than after adding a couple of turns in the cable's route. While replacing your cable, I would also clean and lube the shifter unit.

        Thanks

Cabled ordered, Catalina Direct says 11 feet for a tiller boat with cockpit shifter.

        93 new too funny.

        Thanks for everyone’s input.
