the sense of humor
As I was sitting on the quarter berth yesterday, frustrated, baffled, confused, and feeling oh so alone in this great big world I turned to my MM Manual and began reading the Overhaul chapter.
I appreciated the sense of humor in this section: the three paths one can take in an overhaul, the road less traveled, and other little comments that made me feel like I was reading a book written by an actual person. Please retain, or amplify, this in any future rewrites. Thanks!

If you only knew....
Maybe one of these days, you can find your way to one of Don's workshops, just for the opportunity to rub shoulders with the guy for a day. He's the real deal. Don is a 20+ year best friend. Brenda is our son's godmother. We live less than five miles from one another. We sing in the church choir together, standing next to one another. The list goes on and on. If you haven't read how Moyer Marine came to be, click here. It's a fascinating story. Don's dry wit, sense of self, and total dedication to those few things in life he truly cherishes (including, without question, the Atomic 4) make him one of the most interesting personalities I have ever known. I don't know if there is a "Mr. West" behind West Marine, but I will bet he's no Don Moyer. And I'll bet his business model didn't start with him saying to his wife, "Let's start a company. I'll give free technical advice over the phone to any and all comers, and you do everything else." Bill Last edited by Administrator; 04-20-2008 at 06:05 PM. |
