Greetings All!

Hari & Belinda here.

Quick history of the last 25 years, Grampian 24', Columbia 26 MKII, Cal 35 Cruiser & Macgregor 25'.

Now we are the proud owners of a 1970 Ranger 33 powered by an A4.
She is hull #50 originally named Viper, she must have been raced quite a bit, there are more winches (all old style Lewmar) on this boat than you can shake a stick at.

Sadly the original engine was locked up, looks to be the aux drive mostly (won't be the first I have rebuilt) but the cylinders look awful from the spark plug holes so I have pulled it out.

Before I could start the disassembly I luckily found a good running engine from a freshwater boat and bought it.
We are going to use this while I rebuild the original then reinstall the original and overhaul the spare.

Oh Joy!!!

We have done quite a bit to this boat, updated the rigging, new standing rig, 2 Lewmar 44s for primaries, 2 Maxwell 23 for secondary's and 2 Barients on the coach roof, we also installed a coach roof bridge and moved the main sheet from aft to mid boom sheeting, full batten main and a great suite of sails.

Yes we are going to sail the keel off this cruiser/racer

Any fellow Ranger 33 owners out there?

Fair Winds and Following Seas all!

Hari & Belinda

Im not a Ranger 33 owner but have much respect as I have been aboard one. That boat optimizes the term "good old boat"

Just acquired a set of old lewmar 30 "Holdfast" from my brother. I'm going to use them as halyard winches on my Columbia 36.

Welcome,

Russ

I do not have a Ranger, but I have some friends that are brothers both with R-33's. One still has the A4 in it, and the other is working on some crazy diesel conversion.

Welcome!

Cryptic notes

Grampian 24 = nope
Columbia 26 = yep
Cal Cruising 35 = yep
Mac 25 = nope
Ranger 33 = yep

Your Cal 35 and Ranger 33 were built at the same factory, the Columbia 26 was built 3 blocks away.

Yep, I found out that info when researching the Ranger, in fact the interiors look like the same craftsmen were at work, apparently the Ranger line was the upper range of quality from what I have found out.

The Cal was a big lumbering beast and we wanted something we could have more fun with so the deal was made for the Ranger, we are looking forward to instilling fear in others when we go roaring past in seas that they can't handle.

The Columbia was a really fun boat kinda miss her...

Are those the older Lewmars? if so be cautious, there are few parts available now, I passed up getting a pair for that reason, the Barients are still serviceable through Arco/Hutton and the Maxwells are still serviceable so are the pair of Lewmar 44's.

Another tidbit of worthless trivia, the Columbia 26 MkII and the Coronado 27 are the same hull and interior liner. The 27 had a 1 foot bustle added and a different deck. Such was the case for the entire Coronado product line. Every one of them was a Columbia clone.

Yea, but free is good, right?

I looked at ebay and some folks still want big $$$ for them. These will work for me for all i do.
I looked at the Hutton web site and was impressed with their commitment to older winches.

The link for others:

I don't have a 33 but do have a RANGER 30.
As do a few other forum crew if I recall correctly?

I love the Ranger. Sturdy and fast vessel.
It's very common for someone to walk by and ask me if they can come aboard and have a look see...
