Atomic 4 parting out

Hey all. I have an Atomic 4 I am in the process of parting out. The engine ran OK before it was pulled from the boat but subsequent testing has found that one cylinder has no compression. Probably valves but not sure. The fact that it ran as smooth as it did is testament to the fantastic build of these engines.

Anyway...try as I might I can't get the head off as the studs going through into the block are surrounded by corrosion and the head won't slide through.

I have, therefore all the accessories for this engine for sale.

Water pump, alternator, distributor, manifold, carb, freshwater cooling kit, and a Walter V-drive.

Parts are in Vancouver BC.

Fire me off a PM with what your comfortable to offer and hopefully these parts can end up in a good home.

Is Ontario near Maine? That's a whole 'nother country!

Ontario, yes. BC, not so much....

When the snow melts and mud season ends, I figure it might be time to start reassembling my engine.

Just a quick up-date regarding this Atomic 4. I have sold what would appear to be the most sought after parts. I still have the starter motor, alternator, carburetor, distributor and Walter V-drive.

Am always open to reasonable offers. If these parts don't sell then I know someone who makes really good table lamps from scrap....

Enjoy the up-coming sailing season. Be safe, be prepared and above all keep these wonderful motors running.

I would love to get the V-drive, but shipping from BC to the Chesapeake Bay region has got to be prohibitive. Does the v-drive still have the manufacturer's plaque on it with the serial number?

You wouldn't happen to have the reverse gear adjustment spring would you?

Here is a thought: For shipping the v-drive, heads, starters and other bulky or heavy parts, look into Greyhound. The bus company. They will ship fairly large stuff for cheap on the bus. If the maximum weight per package is 100 lbs (or less) and the package fits in the luggage bay of a bus, it is seriously cheap.

The only down side is that it must be deposited and picked up at a Greyhound station and must be shipped within Canada or the US, not across the border.

Don't know if that could be made to work on the V-drive for edward.

Thanks for the info Mike.

I checked, and the shipping weight on a v drive is 37 pounds. The cheapest UPS from Vancouver BC to Laurel MD USA was around $140 USD, and you'd still have to crate it.
