Electric cooling pump option

My Bosch electrical cooling pump recently died on me. Installed my spare and all is we. Looking online I notice Toyota Prius cooling pumps are pretty inexpensive, has anyone tried on in their fresh water system? Thinking of buying a couple as it has a nice waterproof power plug and can be swapped out pretty quickly.

These pumps cool the inverter, not the entire engine. I have no idea if they can move enough fluid to cool an A4.

Suggest you speak with Indigo, if you haven't already.

Gary, early on I was attracted to a pump used for Mustang supercharger intercoolers. I looked for specifications all over the internet without success but concluded if it worked for that application it would work for ours. The $59 price tag was the hook.

Here's how well that experiment went:

Bosch

We have the Bosch that Indigo sells: it's been fine so far, but that's after just a couple of short seasons. How did yours fail? How long did it work? Any idea why it failed?

Thanks!

Agree, great advice. Tom is wealth of knowledge on the various options for cooling pumps, that may border on OCD. ;^)

I have one of his johnson pumps and no problems for over 3 years. He does have a new pump he is recommending, BLDC that is brushless.
