Anyone looking for this?
Pulled this A4 apart today. Look familiar to anyone? If you fess up I will send it back to you free of charge........This is not a joke, this was in the oil pan exactly as in the photo. Wow, just wow. I bought this from a guy last year with the intention of a rebuild this winter, now that I have time I decided to put my efforts into this and try to get her all brushed off, I was not expecting to get a free tool in the deal!

After overhauling a engine if there are any leftover parts just toss them into the oil pan. After all they do belong to the customer. A wrench is taking this to a new level.
It's a metric spanner. The mystery deepens. ex TRUE GRIT |

How did IT get there?
Perhaps it's time to formulate some theories as to how this (that) got (here) there.
Friday 4:59pm mechanic? Disgruntled repair tech? Bad joke? Bad luck/? Butter fingers? Well it should be ok down there as long as the seas don't pipe up? I know exactly where I can find a 6" adjustable I'm still scratching my head. |

Al, so...supposedly the A4 has 30 horsepower, but your photo suggests it may be more like 30,000 squirrels (or gerbils)?

That's a metric crescent wrench, absolutely useless on our A4s.

Al. every time I check my oil I have to clear off many sunflower seed shells off my engine with an air hose. The Chipmunks hide from the birds and squirrels after raiding the bird feeder and hiding up & under the hood. Fun to watch as long as no wire chewing happens.
Had a friend whose Hatteras 40 something was totaled after a rat infestation. They raided the food and chewed wiring every where including battery, instruments, gauges even chewed through some bulkheads. Due to a health issue they were away from the boat for about 6 weeks. Dave Neptune |

Looked at a wooden power boat some time ago - a 36' Wheeler. Beautiful boat, needed work. Slid out a drawer in the fwd cabin - fully varnished, lovely. Removed the drawer from its track, exposing the hull. Mushrooms growing in the hull planking. We took a pass on the boat.

Not a boat story, but decades ago my wife's cousin got new tires put on his car. Driving home downhill on a winding road the sidwall of his front outside tire exploded .... he ended up with it wrapped around a telephone pole - totalled the car and put his girlfriend in intensive care. Why? The shop left a wrench INSIDE the tire ... mounted, balanced and installed! It jammed and punched out the sidewall on that 1st curve. Mind you it was a TransAM ... I'm sure being driven sedately at the time!

Anyone looking . . . what I once found
In 1965, my Mother bought a new Corvair - it came with a rattle the dealer could not resolve - after a thorough search of the engine compartment, I found a clip-on visor mirror, 3 wrenches , and a screwdriver tucked down in the inner fender behind the battery holddown.
