    need A4 transplant guru Balt/Anap

    I seek a Mechanic/Marina ASAP to replace the current A4 in my 1971 Grampian Sloop with a rebuilt from Moyer. She is in the water on the Magothy River. Ken will tell you I am serious about this. Will sail to where you are (i may need to "sail" to you because my ancient A4 has become unreliable)

    Call or write text me at

    Will move fast as the wind will carry me

    Al, One of the best A-4 mechanics I know on the Chesapeake is Billy at Zahniser's in Solomons. That is 50 miles south of the Magothy River.

    Give us some more details!!

      Solomons IS POSSIBLE since I am sailing that way anyway

      I think it's time for a heart transplant;

      rebuilt A4 from Moyer to replace unreliable 1971 A4 in my Grampian Sloop. I've replaced or rebuilt all fuel, oil, pump, gasket(including head), ignition, electrical, thermal, exhaust, cooling, and heat exchange components and pressure tested....multiple times....and still got chocolate milk oil.

      I fixed it surprisingly with a bottle of "Barrs Leak" cooling system repair much to Don Moyer's surprise as he's never seen that work. Three oil changes and no more chocolate milk! Yes runs fine right now. But even a novice like me ain't stupid enough to place total reliance on an $8 bottle of stuff off the shelf at Walmart to ensure a trouble free thousand nautical mile voyage down the ICW commencing later this month. Yes heart transplant would provide a measure of insurance because I believe I have a hairline crack in the block.

      Solomons would mean I have to take the core from there to Lancaster PA to pick up the new rebuilt but it's possible. Or if you'll warranty that the Walmart fix plus your repairs and no rebuilt engine will get me all way down the ICW and out to the Bahamas I would accept that as well. What do you suggest? And how much>

        Any luck

        Al,

        We have just moved onto Cornfield Creek and will be bringing our Pearson down from Long Island Sound. I too am in need of a mechanic. Have you had any luck?

        Rick
