Oberdorfer N202M-7 Seals Orientation
Hi Afourians-
fresh water pump leaking, ordered two seals and a flange gasket. Seals look different than what was removed, but they fit. They have one side closed and the other open with a spring visible. I am assuming the closed sides with printing on them are installed facing each other. Am I correct? Also, this pump had a o-ring-but no paper gasket installed. I installed a new O-ring-is the paper gasket necessary? Thanks! |

The seals MMI sells do look different than the original equipment type seals. (CSOB_04_65) Their performance is over and above the original equipment type seals. They should be installed with the printed sides facing.
The original back plate has OBERDORFER in raised letters on it and was sealed with a Mickey Mouse thin paper gasket. If you have a back plate that seals with a rubber gasket go with that if it works well. Any seal that works is better than the paper gasket.
