    late model starter / solenoid

When removing the starter to change the solenoid , are there any gaskets
on either of these parts .

I have purchase the solenoid , its on the boat to be installed . I just don't remember if there are gaskets involved ?

good~~,there is no gasket for the starter however there may be spacers in some cases. The starter needs all the grounding it can for full power.

I am pretty sure the part Neil pointed to is what makes the starter/solenoid ignition proof for an inboard gasoline engine...a USCG requirement.
