Where is the oil filler ?

Hi, new here and new to inboard motors. Just bought a Alberg 30 1975 with an A4. This should be a late model, as per the year. But I cannot find the filler cap for oil that I see on every pictures of this motor. Serial # 193001, model 5101.
Thank you

I doubt it but may be you have an early model - is the fly wheel cover cast or sheet metal. If it is an early model the oil goes into a small 'flip cover" just to the rear and left of the distributor [use a small funnel]. Dipstick "cap" is to the right in a little well.

I just checked my 1991 Universal A4 parts list manual and the last page states "serial number 175503 [and higher] - "First engine with new style block- Front oil fill" Sounds like it should be where it is suppose to be?

opampca,
The oil fill will be above the flywheel. It is a 3" round plug with just some spring clips holding it in. I stole this pic from Moyer's home page.

Welcome to the forum. Have you found the dipstick on the aft stbd side??

The flywheel cover is sheet metal, and the thermostat is the late model... It is far from me (8 hours drive) I have a picture, trying to post again. Could be a mixed motor ?

Definately looks like a 'mixed' motor - where is the S/N stamped? Photo? Looks like mostly late model stuff, but the oil fill should be 'right there'.
BTW, you'll want to get rid of that 'trailer' plug in your harness - that's just asking for trouble.

This seems to be a weird motor...

I intend to redo the entire wiring of the boat. Also change the ignition to Indigo electronic ignition... will be very busy next spring, new boat !!! Working also on a "Openplotter" navigation system with OpenCPN. http://www.sailoog.com/openplotter

Did somebody make 3rd party blocks with a different oil port?
