I only hear this starter turning.

I went through the sequences process the community mentions of elimination and common sense of starting a combustion sequence. { I still don't hear it the flywheel engaging I still don't hear the Pistons moving; even drily.}
Can someone tell me how to connect this pice. I believe it's the oil solenoid sensor.
I posted two pictures of it one of it itself and one of what's around it.

That looks to be a 3 "OPSS" switch. That's Oil Pressure Safety Switch to cut off the fuel pump if the oil pressure is to low.

Thank you sir. Thank you sir. If that is not connected to something will that prevent the engine from cranking?

No - the OPSS is normally wired in the +12 Volt line to the electric fuel pump. If you lose oil pressure, the switch opens, which shuts off the fuel pump and then shortly thereafter the engine itself shuts down due to no fuel.

This will minimize damage due to low oil pressure.

In honesty, I don't know what that is. The three terminals make me wonder.
An OPSS usually has two terminals. With no pressure applied, there's no contact between the two terminals. Applying oil pressure closes the terminals and allow the electric fuel pump to run.
An oil pressure sender usually has one terminal, the other electrical connection being a ground to the block. An internal variable resistor sends a signal to the oil pressure gauge.
Three terminals? Don't know. Any identification on it?

Some switches have NO and NC contacts, hence the three terminals. Still, no connection to starter function.

I have that exact one on my A4. I use the NO for Oil Safety, and not the NC; the aux contact from starter solenoid is wired to the same NO terminal as the fuel Pump.

Your being unconnected likely means that your engine is not protected for low oil pressure; likely a violation of Coast Guard regulation and common sense... unless he has another oil pressure sensor somewhere...

I will also believe that it is a violation of coast guard regulations and Common Sense and for those reasons I will keep asking questions on the forum to get answers on how to hook it up and to what?

I fond it but not how to hook it up and the moyer manual doesn't have the one that's actually hooked up to. (See image.)

the one in the picture from the MM manual is a 2 pins, vs ours that is a 3 pins. So just do not use the NC one.

In order to proper cabling:
- on one side of the NO contact you should have the aux contact of the starter AND the power supply to the fuel pump (to start the engine)
- on the other side side of your NO contact, I have it wired to the positive side of the coil (something that is shut off when you turn the ignition key to "off")

there are multiple electrical diagrams available on this forum, showing where it connects to. Check in the "electrical section".
Check the erst of the engine wiring... a PO disconnecting that instrument may have done some more "creative" stufff

The normal closed can be wired to an audible low oil pressure buzzer. When the key is on and there is low or no oil pressure the buzzer will sound. Be sure to include a cut off switch so the buzzer does not sound while trouble shooting with the key on.

If your starter is turning but your engine isn't, and the engine will turn by hand, your starter isn't getting enough voltage to move the solenoid to engage the flywheel, or the solenoid is stuck. May be a loose or corroded connection to the starter. I have heard of people hitting the solenoid with a hammer to jar it loose, but if you need to do that you need another one.
I am unaware of any Coast Guard regulation requiring an oil pressure alarm. It would be easy enough to install one. https://moyermarine.com/product/temp...m-ktas_01_191/
Instead I try to monitor the oil pressure gauge. To me, that is common sense. I use that for a sensor. But I will admit it is easy to ignore, since it only changes readings slightly as the engine warms up. I do have a temperature alarm, hoping that the engine will run hotter as it runs out of oil. Before it seizes up. Since I have a mechanical fuel pump, I have no OPSS, no buzzer while starting, no cut off switch, and no electrical attachments to bypass for troubleshooting fuel issues. I like it that way.
Someday I hope to get the Engine Warning and Diagnostic System sold by Moyer, https://moyermarine.com/product/the-...m-ktas_01_564/, so when the buzzer sounds, I can look at the lights and tell at a glance if it is temperature, oil pressure, fuel pressure, coil input voltage, or raw water flow. Makes a lot of sense.
