Oil pressure switch

I would like to know if for the oil pressure switch with the alarm system, if a higher trip pressure say 10 or 15 psi would be ok. I was thinking that if there was a problem with the oil pressure that waiting until it fell to 6psi would be a little low to be warned. Thanks.

You can tailor the trip point to any pressure that is meaningful to you. I don't think the sender is adjustable so you'll have to replace it, just be sure you get one that has NC (Normally Closed) contacts.

I believe the idea behind the 6 psi trip point was to prevent nusiance trips. Oil pressures down to 1 psi per 100 rpm are acceptable, so 6psi lets you idle with minimum acceptable pressure without alarming.

But you can set the trip point to whatever works for you.
