Thermostat testing in water baths
It just occurred to me that my fancy-schmancy sous vide water bath can be used to assess thermostat performance at very precise temperatures. The specs on my Anova Precision Cooker water bath say 77F to 210F with a variance of 0.01 degrees.
Haven't tried it, but I guess that if you put your stat in a plastic bag filled with water, and then put that bag in the sous vide bath, you could set the bath temp and see what happens. Of course, you could simply throw the stat in the bath au naturel, but that might not go over well with senior management. Bill Last edited by Administrator; 05-25-2018 at 01:27 PM. |

Well, there's always the pot on the stove method.
Although, the boss caught me. This pic is seconds before the bust. I'm STILL hearing about putting that Therm in her best stew pot to this day!

Newlyweds?
You only do that when you see one white light on the admiral's gig, or no lights at all (maybe use a lookout). If you see one green, or one red, or God forbid a green AND a red, "galley gear belongs to her," as the saying goes. Pro tip: 8" of Simple Green in a deep saucepan gets the gunk off winches a lot faster when it is warm, even hot. |
