Engine stalls when choke is let go

Hi, after dry docking for 2 years we are ready to sail, but the A4 has trouble: It can be started as usual with the choke pulled out. But after warming up to the operating temperature, whenever I let go the choke, it stalls out immediately.

It will run, even under load, so long as the choke is pulled out. But it immediately stalls when choke is released, every time.

What's the problem, and how can I correct it?

    Please help!

Time to rebuild the carburetor. Clearly the mixture is off likely due to clogged ports and jets, perhaps even vacuum leaks at the throttle shaft seals.

    And welcome!

      I concur Captain Neil

You need to rebuild that carb. Remember to get a carb gasket. you can get one right here from MMI.

Welcome to the forum. I suspect the others are correct. But just for info pull the flame arrestor and check the function of the choke valve. Dan S/V Marian Claire
