    Paragon Reversing Gear ratio

I have the Atomic Stevedore engine equipped with a Paragon Reduction Gear (2.04:1 gear ratio) along with a Paragon OXKB Reversing Gear.

My question is: With this combination, is the gear ratio in forward the same as the gear ratio in reverse? i.e. is the reverse gear ratio maintained at 2.04:1 ?

Any assistance or comments would be greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that the reversing gear is 1/3 the ratio of the forward gear.

      John,

On your engine, the external 2.04:1 gear reduction on your engine does add to the 1.27:1 gear reduction already provided by the reversing gear.

        Dave,

I get lost in some of the math in this issue, but I believe you're essentially correct. 1.27:1 would be round up nicely to a 30% gear reduction from the 1:1 ratio of normal forward.
