Engine Running Hot
last fall on the final sail, I got into some weeds. It plugged up the intakes so bad it was water tight and the engine overheated. cleaned the intakes out, installed new impeller, tested and winterized. All was well?
On Monday, went for the first sail and the engine overheated again. This I know: Water is flowing out the exhaust. Water at exit point is luke warm. Engine will idol for 15 min with no problems. Put in gear and increase power and engine overheat warning comes on. When the warning horn comes on, exhaust starts to smoke (blue)and blow-by out the oil filler cap. When I shut engine down, I can hear the water in the block boiling. Water temp sensor is in the rear of block. Top of the heads show dark color due to overheating (darker in back than in front}. And, I do not have a temp gauge yet! Thanks in advance, Allen Troyer |
